Memberships

GreenMatter Fellows are postgraduate students studying in Environmental and Sustainability fields at universities across South Africa. As Fellows, you are beneficiaries of GreenMatter's professional development programme - a structured 12-month journey of skills development, peer learning, and real-world impact. Fellows are paired with a professional mentor from the broader environmental sector, and earn rewards points on the MESH platform to access training events and workshops. As part of your Fellowship, you will design and deliver a social impact project (a training, workshop, or webinar) for community beneficiaries (Tier III Members), contributing directly to the capacity of South Africa's environmental sector.

MESH Alumni are former GreenMatter Fellows who have completed the Fellowship programme. As an Alumnus, you remain a valued member of the MESH community, staying connected to a growing network of environmental professionals, practitioners, and peers across South Africa. Your experience and expertise are an important part of the MESH ecosystem, and we encourage you to continue engaging with the community, attending events, and supporting the next generation of Fellows.

The MESH General Environmental Sector membership is open to professionals working across South Africa's environmental, conservation and sustainability fields. As a General Member, you become part of a dynamic community of practice - connecting with peers, staying informed about sector developments, and contributing to the growth of the next generation of environmental leaders. Members in this tier may be invited to serve as professional mentors to GreenMatter Fellows, offering guidance, industry insight, and support to postgraduate students navigating their careers in the sector.

This membership is created for Groen Sebenza Alumni from all phases, as a medium of communication between SANBI, host organisations, and the former interns. This platform shares job posts, hosts events, hosts webinar workshops, training courses, etc.
