The National Environmental Skills Planning Forum (NESPF) was initiated in 2010 by the Sector Education Training and Development Unit in the then DEA (now DFFE) in response to needs identified during the development of the Environmental Sector Skills Plan (ESSP) and the BHCDS. Since 2011 it has involved a small core active group of biodiversity and environmental organizations, however the forum is open to anyone with a commitment to the forum’s goals and a national interest in environmental capacity building.

NESS
Since 2010 the National Environmental Skills Summit (NESS) has provided an opportunity for stakeholders from across the environmental sector (government, business, NGOs, private players and communities) to come together, share, dialogue and develop concrete actions and plans related to prioritised outcomes. As a collaborative platform it enables the discussion of progress made, current status and future needs for improving the environmental skills pipeline.
The overall goal of NESS is to contribute towards strengthening the skills pipeline for the environment. Held every two years, the skills summit will help to gather and share evaluation data, provide opportunities to reflect on synergy across activities, build collaboration and collective action, share research and research findings, engage in horizon scanning using the collective intelligence of participants and maintain momentum around the implementation of the BHCDS.
NESS will be posted on the events page (link) once a date for the next summit has been secure.
